CLTA-SC Successfully Hosts Post-Wildfire Chinese Teaching and Support Sharing Session
On January 15, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM (PST), the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Southern California (CLTA-SC) successfully hosted a Post-Wildfire Chinese Teaching and Support Sharing Session. The event attracted many Chinese teachers, from public and private schools, providing them with timely and practical support during this challenging period. Despite the tight schedule, the session was packed with valuable insights and practical strategies, making it a highly rewarding experience for all participants.
The session featured Mr. Bin He from Harvard-Westlake School and Ms. Fei Li from Marlborough School as keynote speakers. Drawing from their extensive teaching experience, they provided in-depth discussions on curriculum design after the wildfire, classroom activity sharing, and psychological support for both teachers and students. Their presentations offered numerous actionable teaching strategies, which teachers found immensely helpful in navigating their post-wildfire teaching environments.
Teachers also had a whole-hearted discussion on the integration of Chinese New Year celebrations into lesson planning, after the wildfire, with more sensitivity. This topic sparked enthusiastic exchanges, with teachers sharing their school’s practices and exploring ways to make cultural activities more educational and interactive.
Many participants expressed heartfelt gratitude to CLTA-SC, emphasizing that this session was truly a “lifeline,” offering much-needed support at a critical time. Additionally, it provided a valuable platform for educators to engage in meaningful discussions on pressing teaching concerns. Teachers collectively agreed that the Chinese teaching community must remain closely connected, offering mutual support and collaboration to foster growth and development.
Moving forward, CLTA-SC will continue to organize similar events, providing ongoing opportunities for Chinese educators to exchange ideas and grow together. We warmly invite more teachers to join and share their expertise! If you are interested in contributing your experiences in future events or have any suggestions, please reach out to us. Together, we can strengthen and advance the field of Chinese education!

Workshop 5: Rethinking TBLT: The Role of Deconstructed Tasks in TBLT. | Presentation language: Chinese Cost: $50 Register from the Day1 link above. |
