March 24, 2025 – CLTA-SC Webinar on Increasing Student Engagement Through Effective Classroom Management

On March 24, 2025, CLTA-SC (Chinese Language Teachers Association of Southern California) was honored to invite Pearl You, founder of You Consulting, to share valuable insights with us. Pearl is an experienced independent Chinese teaching coach with a wealth of experience and unique perspectives in the field.

The theme of this online seminar was “Increasing Student Engagement Through Effective Classroom Management from Day 1.” We were also delighted to have outstanding bilingual immersion teachers from Montera Elementary School join the discussion, including Grace Chiang for Kindergarten, Yuwen Lai for Grade 2, and Elsa Hsu for Grade 5. Together with Pearl, they shared effective classroom management strategies and real-world examples that provided tremendous value to all attendees!

During the seminar, Pearl and her team emphasized the importance of establishing a classroom culture based on mutual respect. They pointed out that by creating classroom routines, effectively managing student behavior, and planning a conducive physical learning environment, we can foster an atmosphere that supports and encourages student learning. Such an environment not only promotes learning but also cultivates respect and collaboration among students. Their insights included practical strategies that help teachers engage students’ attention and participation from the very first day.
