February 28, 2026 – Southern California Chinese Teachers Explore a New Chapter in AI-Powered Smart Teaching
At the end of the Lunar New Year, the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Southern California (CLTA-SC) successfully hosted its first online seminar of the year: "Practical ways to integrate AI and digital tools into language teaching to strengthen pragmatic competence and real-world communication." Keynote speaker Dr. Shin Chi Fame Kao brought an inspiring "New Year’s breakthrough" to educators, delivering a visionary session on the integration of technology and pedagogy.
During the seminar, Dr. Gao demonstrated how AI tools are revolutionizing traditional teaching mindsets and liberating teachers from the exhausting cycle of lesson preparation. Examples included using Khanmigo to rapidly generate exercises and activities tailored to varying student proficiency levels, and utilizing DeepSeek for precise, comprehensive lesson plan design. The workshop focused on applying these tools to the comprehensive "listening, speaking, reading, and writing" skills in Chinese language instruction, making language learning more interactive and dynamic.
Reflecting on the rapid evolution of technology—from the early days of ChatGPT to the emergence of DeepSeek—participating teachers marveled at the speed of the AI era. There was a shared realization that staying ahead of these trends and enhancing Chinese pedagogical methods is essential to maintaining competitiveness in language education. Attendees expressed deep gratitude for Dr. Gao’s guidance, which allowed teachers to step into the new world of AI-driven education within a warm, collaborative atmosphere.

在新春尾声、圆满收官之际，南加州中文教师协会成功举办了本年度首场线上研习会——“现代课堂的智慧教学：运用人工智能与数字化工具支持语用能力的发展”。本次研习会由高老师主讲，为老师们带来了一场科技与教学融合的视听盛宴，开启了充满启发性的“开门红”。
