On April 26, 2025, the Chinese Language Teachers' Association of Southern California (CLTA-SC) hosted a successful Spring Pedagogy Conference at Pasadena City College in Los Angeles. We were thrilled to welcome 83 frontline Chinese language teachers from Southern California, Irvine, San Diego, Riverside, and beyond. This marks the 10th professional event hosted by CLTA-SC this year.

The conference featured keynote speeches, teaching workshops, resource sharing, and a roundtable forum. We were honored to have Professor Hongyin Tao from UCLA as our keynote speaker, providing insights into the future of Chinese education, including policy trends and teaching strategies. One of the standout features of the conference was the teaching workshops, which included three rounds and nine themed sessions showcasing innovative teaching practices and interdisciplinary integration.

Highlights included:

- DAHUA AI showcases how AI enhances interactivity in teaching.

- Teachers from Polytechnic School sharing experiences on creating engaging classes.

- Presentations from NTNU and UCSB on integrating traditional arts in the classroom.

- Ms. Li Sun from Harvard-Westlake is discussing martial arts in language teaching.

- Professor Xiang Jian from USC is proposing strategies for advanced writing training.

- Additional sessions on immersive teaching, body movement learning of Chinese characters, and student-led video projects, showcasing the creativity and diversity of Chinese teaching in the North American context, as well as the foresight and execution of our teaching community.

"We are delighted to witness the growth and cohesion of CLTA-SC this special spring," said the president, Bin He, in the closing remarks. "This is not just a teaching conference; it's a gathering of professionalism and passion."

Planning for the CLTA-SC Fall Conference is underway, and we look forward to seeing you in the second half of the year. Stay tuned!
